Founded in 2015, Athens Center for Counseling and Play Therapy is home to the private practice offices of Leslie Schwartz, Leigh Ellen Magness, Chelsea Sharpe, Allia Siler, Cheran Bodry, Rebecca Coates-Keane, and Rob Lomax. Though several local counseling centers have a child therapist on staff, ACCPT is the only center in Athens that was designed for, and caters to, children, teens, and families. Together we have more than 40 years experience working with families, and we often work with families experiencing difficulties like:
Divorce
Depression
Anxiety
Behavior Problems
Sexual Abuse
Developmental difficulties
Academic difficulties
Remarriage and blended families
Life transitions
Family secrets
Grief and loss
Postpartum depression
Social Skills
In 2017, recognizing a need in the community, Leslie and Leigh Ellen created Athens Therapy Co-op as an extension of Athens Center for Counseling and Play Therapy. The co-op is a professional home for therapists who want to practice part-time. Athens Therapy Co-op creates an environment where therapists can see clients with a variety of backgrounds and needs while pooling resources and sharing referrals with other therapists. Each therapist who operates out of the co-op maintains their own practice and liability insurance.
Our Space Located conveniently near the loop, our office sees clients from Athens, Oconee, and the surrounding counties. Our hope is that children and families feel comfortable here.
